Kids can really get into the spirit of the holidays, especially if you let them help you make something special to give. I recently received the Simply Earth December recipe box which is filled with seasonal scents and supplies for gifts that kids can make. Find out how this one box can help your kids make holiday gifts to give.
I received a complimentary Simply Earth Recipe Boxes to facilitate this review. I have not received any additional compensation. Please note that I do have affiliate links in this post. If you click through and make a purchase, I will receive a small commission, thank you.
Gifts That Kids Can Make
I love to involve my kids with creating gifts and the items here are simple enough and easy for kids to help with. Most of what you need is included in the kit, which means more crafting and fewer trips to the store!
Simply Earth Recipe Box
I’ve shared about Simply Earth in the past. I’m already a big fan of their monthly subscription box that’s filled with essential oils and other goodies. Sign up and each month you’ll receive a Simply Earth “recipe box” subscription with 4 pure essential oils plus extras to create some great household items.I recently received the December 2018 Simply Earth recipe subscription box to try out the seasonal gift-worthy recipes. The box included the following:
- Clove Essential Oil
- Patchouli Essential Oil
- Peppermint Essential Oil
- Breathe Easy Essential Oil Blend
- Bath Bomb Shells
- Goat Milk
- Citric Acid
- 6 recipe cards
- DIY cut-out sticker labels
Note that not all of the extras to create the recipes are included. Some ingredients you might have on hand, others you may need to purchase. I had to get Epsom salts to create two of the recipes in the December box. You’ll also need a few kitchen basics, like baking soda or solid coconut oil. I was able to create 6 recipes from the box. The recipes included are perfect for coping with winter or to use as small gifts this holiday season.
The BIG BONUS BOX
Other items like jars and carrier oils that you may need for your recipes will come inside your Big Bonus Box. Everyone receives the Big Bonus Box when signing up for a Simply Earth subscription! The Big Bonus Box is stocked with about $40 worth of items and contains a plethora of jars and containers to put your homemade concoctions in along with some carrier oils and other necessities (your Big Bonus Box contents may vary from what I’ve received).
Vanilla Mint Lip Scrub
The recipe will create a single small jar of Vanilla Mint Lip Scrub but you can easily increase the recipe to make multiple gifts at once. The scent combination is heavenly and makes a nice gift for a teenager, parent or grandparent.
Cold Support Chest Rub
Easier to make than I’d expected! You will need to use the stove top to slowly melt the beeswax and coconut oil together, so this project is recommended for a teenager. I’ve already used the Cold Support chest rub on my sniffly toddler. I’ll never buy the cold chest rubs at the store again now that I know I can create this great homemade version! Bundle this gift up with a box of tissues or a cozy blanket.
Tension Relief Bath Bomb
This recipe will create two Tension Relief Bath Bombs with the contents of your Simply Earth December recipe box (and a few kitchen staples). Perfect to wrap up individually and gift! An older kid or teenager may enjoy making these popular bath bombs.
A word of caution: If you’ve never made a bath bomb before, I’d recommend watching a video first to get the gist of it, or else risk adding too much water and having your bomb fizz away before you even get it inside the mold! Ahem…you may notice that I don’t have a photo of my bombs 🙁 Don’t be like me, do your crafty research first so you’ll know exactly how to get the consistency right.
Congestion Support Roll-On
Love this aromatic recipe that uses an almond oil base. It can also be used as a headache reliever, making it an ideal gift for a teacher or babysitter, ha!
Breathe Easy Bath Salts
Even a kindergarten-aged kid could make these simple Breathe Easy bath salts as a gift. Pour the contents of the recipe into a zip-close plastic bag then add food coloring. Let your kid shake the bag until all the salts are coated in color. Layer colored salts into a jar (a recycled baby food jar is perfect!) for a pretty and practical holiday gift. For added holiday flair, paint the top of the jars & then use hot glue to add a small ornament or plastic holly.
Trim the Tree Diffuser Blend
Mix up a bottle of this holiday-inspired Trim the Tree blend to use inside of a diffuser. Gift a diffuser from Simply Earth for a relaxing gift they’ll use year-round.
The Ultimate Holiday Gift
For the person who deserves it all, any of the Simply Earth essential oil recipe boxes can be sent directly as a gift. You can amend your delivery on the Simply Earth website to change the name and shipping address of whom you’d like your box sent to.
