LEGOLAND Brick or Treat Entertainment Tips

Balancing a Theme Park Day with the Halloween Party

The theme park opens at 10:00 am and Halloween activities begin around 2:00 pm (candy collection at 3pm). This allows guests several hours to enjoy the regular rides before the special event starts.

Arrive at opening to maximize a full day at LEGOLAND. Enjoy the rides and attractions before Brick or Treat activities begin at 2:00 pm. Change into Halloween costumes once the event starts.

Pick and Choose Must-Do Activities

You won’t be able to experience ALL the shows in one evening. Choose your favorites and check the guide upon entering to note the times. Most locations are standing room only so arrive early if you prefer being closer to the action.

Is it Crowded at LEGOLAND Halloween Party?

The crowds for this event tend to get heavier the closer the dates are to Halloween. If you want to avoid the heavy crowds, plan to attend the first event in late September or the parties in early October.

It’s a good idea to ask the kids pre-trip which of the attractions they are most interested in and do those things as you’ll not be able to do them all.

A large majority of the rides and attractions will be open during the Party Nights event. However, you’ll still need to strategize what you want to do during the course of the six hour event.

What to Pack for LEGOLAND California Halloween?

Extra Treat Bag

Every guest will receive a treat bag. LEGOLAND will provide a small paper bags with a handle.

It’s recommended to bring an extra bag to store treats if you plan to visit all the candy stations. Young children in particular will tire of carrying a heavy treat bag. Bring a backpack or drawstring bag for treat storage.

Phone Charger

Accessing the Halloween party guide map is a must, with event times and treat trails marked. Guests will use the LEGOLAND app to access the times and locations.

All the extra phone use will drain your battery quickly. Bring an external phone charger, like the Anker Power Bank.

More Things to Pack for the LEGOLAND California Halloween Party

Glowing Jewelry – It can be quite dark in some areas of the Park after night fall. Consider having the kids carry glow sticks, wear glow jewelry or even bring a compact flashlight.

Hoodie or lightweight jacket – Once night falls, it can get cold.

Change of Clothing or Pajamas – Bring extra clothes, in case your child tires of wearing their costume. Consider having kids change into their pjs after the Halloween event, so they’re ready for bed.

Trick-Or-Treat LEGOLAND California Brick-or-Treat Guide

If collecting tons of candy or snacks is your Brick or Treat goal, make sure to read these trick or treat event tips.

What time do the treat stations open at LEGOLAND California Halloween? Trick-or-treating begins at 3:00 pm during the event.

Where are the LEGOLAND Brick or Treat stations? There are many treat stations in various locations around the theme park. Use the app or guide map to find them, or just look for treat station signage.

They offer snacks, as well as specialty items including a LEGO commemorative Brick, or pop badges. If allergies are a concern, visit the information table within Miniland USA. There is a guide for families to know which treats are being handed out at specific locations.

Who can trick or treat at LEGOLAND? The LEGO themed treat stations and candy carts offer a safe, fun and entertaining trick-or-treat experience for all to enjoy. Yes, even grown ups can participate!

LEGOLAND Brick or Treat Treat Station Tips

What kind of treats are at LEGOLAND Brick or Treat?

In past years, we’ve received Power Crunch protein bars, Jolly Ranchers, Clif bars, Airheads, Laffy Taffy, Smarties, and Nerds, among others.

In addition, there are non-edible items handed out, including commemorative LEGO bricks and themed pop badges.

How can guests carry the treats?

All guests will receive a complimentary treat bag to hold their goodies. You may want to bring a backpack since the kids will likely tire of carrying the bags on and off the attractions.

How to find treat stations at LEGOLAND Halloween?

Guests may use the LEGOLAND app to find locations of each treat station during Brick or Treat. There is also a printed guide map available from Guest Services.

Treat lines are designed with barriers and have “CANDY” signs, along with a LEGO skeleton on top (see image below).

Open treat carts are used and the LEGOLAND employees (“Model Citizens”) will individually hand out the candy. These are similar to what is used at Disneyland’s Oogie Boogie Bash. The carts can serve more than one guest and greatly sped up the lines.

LEGOLAND California Halloween Costume Tips

Kids and adults are encouraged to dress up when attending the Brick-or-Treat Party. Check the website for certain guidelines before arriving in costume (nothing gory or inappropriate, of course).

If going to LEGOLAND earlier in the day, wear regular clothing that is theme park appropriate. Pack costumes in or return to the hotel in afternoon for a change. Dress up in costume when the party event begins at 2:00 pm.

LEGOLAND Brick-or-Treat Costume Contest

If your kids have a particularly awesome ensemble, consider entering the Lord Vampyre’s Very Important Monsters (V.I.M) Costume Party.

The costume contest registration area is located within Miniland. Categories include “Best Monster”, “Best Group”, and “Best Homemade”.

Only children 12 and under may enter and pre-registration is required at least 10 minutes before each contest begins. Competition times are at 3:00, 4:00, 5:30 pm. There is also a mini costume contest for kids up to age 6 that takes place at 2:00 pm.

LEGOLAND California Halloween Party with Little Kids

LEGOLAND is open from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on days in which the Halloween event takes place. That can be a long and tiring day, especially for families with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Babies and toddlers aged 2 and under receive complimentary admission to LEGOLAND! Check out these expert tips for maximizing your day at Brick or Treat with little kids.

Arrive at Opening

The first few hours that LEGOLAND are open are the least busy. This allows guests to accomplish many of the rides and attractions in the morning with minimal wait times and crowds.

On days in which the Halloween party takes place, most guests will arrive later in the day. Take advantage of the low crowds and arrive early.

Book a Nearby Hotel

Extend your Brick or Treat fun with a local hotel stay. There are several hotels within walking distance of the LEGOLAND Resort. With young children it’s ideal to take an afternoon break.

Take a Mid-Day Break

Encourage a nap during the day for young kids. Retreat to the hotel room for swimming and an afternoon rest before going back to the theme park. Keep reading to the bottom of this article for nearby hotel suggestions.

More Tips for LEGOLAND with Young Kids

  • Bring a Stroller – Even if your preschooler doesn’t usually use a stroller, it’s a good idea to bring one for this event.
  • Locker Rental – Consider renting a locker to store items like the diaper bag and jackets.
  • Choose Appropriate Costumes – Diaper-wearing toddlers should wear two piece costumes for quick changes. Avoid complicated outfits and ensure that you can still buckle your child into the stroller seat belt.

Is There Food at Brick-or-Treat?

Yes, many of the restaurants are open during the special event. However at just six hours of LEGOLAND Halloween Party time, I’d recommend planning your dining ahead of time.

LEGOLAND Brick-or-Treat Halloween party pumpkin crepe
Pumpkin crepe is made-to-order (just like all food at LEGOLAND)

On a prior visit, we didn’t heed this advice and used up 45 minutes out of our limited Brick or Treat time to sit down and eat. This really impacted what we were able to see and do during the event.

There are also seasonal treats available around the park, including this pumpkin crepe my kids loved! All food at LEGOLAND is prepared fresh to order. This means that lines for dining can be long. Consider dividing up while one adult waits in line.

Should You Visit LEGOLAND for More Than One Day?

During the month of September and October, all areas of the LEGOLAND California resort are open and operational. That includes the LEGOLAND theme park, SEA LIFE Aquarium, and the LEGOLAND Water Park (water park open only on weekends in September & October).

The theme park and water park each should receive their own day to fully explore. Add in the aspect of the LEGOLAND Brick or Treat Halloween party and guests should definitely visit on an additional day.

3 days at the LEGOLAND Resort would be the perfect autumn getaway! My travel partners Get Away Today have excellent deals on a Carlsbad vacation for your family.

Halloween Family Fun at the LEGOLAND Hotel

The LEGOLAND Hotel and LEGOLAND Castle Hotel host their own Halloween celebrations on Friday and Saturday nights. At the LEGOLAND Hotel, guests can dance at The Monster Bash and enjoy “monster training”.

The LEGOLAND Castle Hotels holds a Royal Carnival with juggling, acrobatics and other games, plus a Musical Monsters Show and the Trickster Brigade.

SAVE MONEY ON VACATION – Book a fall LEGOLAND vacation package to maximize your cost savings, when tickets and hotel are bundled!

LEGOLAND Hotels Within Walking Distance

If being close to the theme park is important, consider staying at one of the nearby resort hotels within walking distance of LEGOLAND. The prices are less than the LEGOLAND Hotels, but offer exceptional amenities and large rooms.

The Cassara Carlsbad, Tapestry Collection by Hilton – this resort offers modern rooms with either a balcony or patio.

Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa – spacious rooms with an excellent pool area that offers a hot tub and water slide.
