LEGOLAND Halloween – Brick Or Treat Party Nights
I’ve been attending the LEGOLAND California Brick-or-Treat with my kids since it’s inception! We enjoy the party exclusive entertainment, generous treat stations and the all-around vibrant energy throughout the park. LEGOLAND is already so much fun during the day, especially for preschoolers and elementary-aged kids. Be sure to keep reading and see how you can combine enjoying the park and still stay late for the party!
When is the Brick-or-Treat Party in San Diego?
Brick-or-Treat Party Nights at LEGOLAND is the biggest kids’ Halloween celebration in San Diego and offers children and their families trick-or-treating and entertainment throughout the Park. 2019 – Brick or Treat LEGOLAND takes place each every Saturday night (Sept. 28, Oct. 5, 12, 19, & 26) at 5 p.m. when LEGOLAND California transforms into a not-too-spooky Halloween party. If you have a ticket for the LEGOLAND California Brick-or-Treat Party Nights, guests are permitted to enter the park as early as 4 pm. However the Halloween festivities do not begin until 5.
LEGOLAND California Brick-or-Treat Entertainment
- Midnight Monster Jam at Fun Town Stage (5:45, 6:45, 8:00) -Boogie down with the monster crew.
- At Frankenbrick’s Lab, kids participate in an interactive show. They’ll have the chance to act as scientists on stage and create their own slime! (5:30, 6:45, 8:30)
- Courtyard Theatre on Castle Hill entertainment rotates between the Mail Order Monsters (5:00, 6:00, 7:00, 8:00) and The Witchettes (5:30, 6:30, 7:30, 8:30).
- The AstroBash, a space themed dance party is held all night long in Miniland (near the Star Wars LEGO area).
- Coast Cruise morphs into a Ghost Cruise adventure after dark.
- In Fun Town, complete an easy challenge to collect a pop-badge.
- The LEGO Friends Heartlake City area is completely closed during the 2019 LEGOLAND Brick or Treat as construction has begun for The LEGO Movie World (opening in Spring 2020).
Brick-or-Treat Entertainment Tip: You likely won’t be able to experience ALL the shows in one evening. Choose your favorites and check the guide upon entering to note the times. Most locations are standing room only so arrive early if you prefer being closer to the action.

Is it Crowded at LEGOLAND Halloween Party?
A large majority of the rides and attractions will be open during the Party Nights event. However, you’ll still need to pick and choose what you want to do during the course of the four hour event. Brick-or-Treat is a limited ticket event, but that doesn’t necessarily mean lighter crowds.
The crowds for this event tend to get heavier the closer the dates are to Halloween. If you want to avoid the heavy crowds, plan to attend the first event in late September or the parties in early October. It’s a good idea to ask the kids pre-trip which of the attractions they are most interested in and do those things as you’ll not be able to do them all.
More Brick-or-Treat Details
LEGOLAND California Brick-or-Treat Party Nights is a special event and admission can be purchased for as low as $64 if purchased online in advance. Guests can purchase a full 2nd day Resort Hopper ticket to enjoy LEGOLAND California, SEA LIFE aquarium and LEGOLAND® Water Park. Special event ticket holders can enjoy costume contests, trick-or-treating at candy stations filled with tasty goodies and other surprises, festive music and live entertainment.
Upon entering for the event, turn either left or right and line up to get your LEGOLAND Halloween ticket verified. Every guest will receive a treat bag. In 2019, they are large paper bags with a handle. The guide map is a must (with event times and treat trails marked).
You’ll also be given a wristband that designates guests to stay in the park for the LEGOLAND Halloween event. Anyone not wearing a wristband will need to leave the park once the party time begins. Those with Party Nights tickets may enter the park one hour before the party begins. I highly recommend this to really maximize your time!
Brick-or-Treat Nighttime Tip: It can be quite dark in some areas of the Park after night fall. Consider having the kids carry glow sticks, wear glow jewelry or even bring a compact flashlight.
Trick-Or-Treat LEGOLAND California Brick-or-Treat Tips
There are 15 treat stations with specialty items including a LEGO commemorative Brick, a copy of LEGO Life Magazine and 2 bonus treat stations inside SEA LIFE Aquarium.
The LEGO themed treat stations and candy carts offer a safe, fun and entertaining trick-or-treat experience for all to enjoy. Yes, even grown ups can participate! We received Power Crunch protein bars, Jolly Ranchers, Airheads and commemorative LEGO bricks, among others. All guests will receive a complimentary treat bag to hold their goodies. You may want to bring a backpack since the kids will likely tire of carrying the bags on and off the attractions.
Treat lines are designed with barriers and have “End of the Line” signs with the name of the treat being given. This is a big improvement over prior years when the lines weren’t divided off from the regular thru-traffic in pathways. Another improvement has been open treat carts. These are similar to what is used at Disneyland’s Oogie Boogie Bash. The carts can serve more than one guest and greatly sped up the lines.
LEGOLAND Costume Dress-Up & Contest
Kids and adults are encouraged to dress up when attending the Brick-or-Treat Party. Check the website for certain guidelines before arriving in costume (nothing gory or inappropriate, of course).
If your kids have a particularly awesome ensemble, consider entering the costume contest. Only children 12 and under may enter and pre-registration is required (see the LEGOLAND costume contest rules). Prizes include LEGOLAND California admission tickets, LEGOLAND Hotel stays and LEGO toys.
Is There Food at Brick-or-Treat?
Yes, many of the restaurants are open during the special event. However at just four hours of LEGOLAND Halloween Party time, I’d recommend eating earlier. On a prior visit, we didn’t heed this advice and used up 45 minutes out of our limited Brick or Treat time to sit down and eat. This really impacted what we were able to see and do during the event.
There are also seasonal treats available around the park, including this pumpkin crepe my kids loved! All food at LEGOLAND is prepared fresh to order. This means that lines for dining can be long. Consider dividing up while one adult waits in line.
When is the Brick-or-Treat LEGOLAND Halloween Party?
LEGOLAND California and SEA LIFE Aquarium are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on select dates throughout October. LEGOLAND Water Park is open weekends 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. through October 27th.
Staying at the LEGOLAND Hotel?
The LEGOLAND Hotel and LEGOLAND Castle Hotel will host their own Halloween celebrations Friday and Saturday nights. At the LEGOLAND Hotel, guests can dance at The Monster Bash and enjoy “monster training”. The LEGOLAND Castle Hotels holds a Royal Carnival with juggling, acrobatics and other games, plus a Musical Monsters Show and the Trickster Brigade.
On October 31st, guests will be treated with candy giveaways, exclusive entertainment, a dance party and a special visit from Brick-Or-Treat Characters exclusively for Hotel guests. It’s a perfect way to celebrate a LEGOLAND Halloween!
