Ever been separated from a family member? They aren’t answering their phone calls or texts. Perhaps you were at the airport waiting for a pick-up and you have no idea where they are waiting for you. Or you’re at an amusement park and don’t know which direction your family went. I lost my husband at a museum while on vacation. I went left and he went right and we circled around trying to find each other for 30 minutes…So frustrating!!

What about your kids? Are you a nervous wreck having to be at work when your kids are getting off the school bus by themselves? Or they are walking home from a friend’s house alone? What about when you are supposed to be picking them up from practice and they are waiting for you at one entrance and you’re at another…and they aren’t answering their phone!
Life360 is a free smartphone app that helps families and close friends stay in sync throughout their busy day. With Life360, you can see where your family and friends are on a private map, stay in touch with your group via one-on-one messaging, create shared “to do” lists and get help in an emergency.
Eliminate the “Where are you?” and “When will you be home?” messages completely with the Life360 app. Ease your mind quickly by just opening the app to find out in an instant where your family is. You can see them on the map, just like me on this screenshot.
When I took this shot I’d requested that my husband and mother-in-law sign up too. They received a notification from me about linking in to Life360. Other users have to accept the app, you can’t just automatically add them without their consent. Life360 uses top-notch GPS technology with maps and chat channels built with bank-level security. Your locations and conversations will always be private, available only to people you invite.
My children don’t have their own cell phones yet, but if they did I’d have them added to our Life360 app in a flash! I work outside the home so it would be nice to check in on the app as my kids are walking to Grandma’s house or when they are visiting a friend in the neighborhood so I can be assured of their location. You can set up Places (areas you can define inside the Life360 app) so that you are alerted when a Circle member enters or leaves a location.
You can even use Life360 to track down a missing phone! My husband lost his phone once and had no idea if he’d left it at the gym or if it had fallen out of his pocket at work. He ended up having to buy a new one which was a pricey loss! If one of your family members is registered within your circle, you can use the map within their Family Locator App to find it. There will be an icon showing the location of your lost or stolen phone. Or check the Life360 website and the map can quickly provide directions to your phone’s exact location. The map shows the real-time location of the stolen or lost phone and is instantly updated when the phone moves.
The basic, free Life360 works for me just fine but they also offer a Premium Life360 app. For $5 a month you’ll receive everything in the basic plan in addition to-
- 24/7 Live Advisor
- Instant Roadside Assistance
- Unlimited Places
- Non-Smartphone Lookups
- Stolen Phone Protection
I plan on using the Life360 app the next time we are at Disneyland. Last year my husband was calling me to tell me that our table was ready for dinner but with the parade noise and my phone inside my backpack, I didn’t get the call. If we’d had the Life360 app he would have seen that I was literally 10 feet from the entrance of the restaurant, sitting on the curb to watch the parade!
