Spring Break at Disneyland

Springtime at Disneyland is one of the most beautiful times to visit. It can also be one of the busiest times at Disneyland, with many children out of school on spring break.

Where to Get Theme Park Tickets for Spring Break at Disneyland

The SoCal Resident Ticket Deal brings in additional locals. This 3-day ticket is an exceptional value and can only be used by Southern California residents with valid identification (shown at the gate during admission).

SoCal Resident tickets are valid January 2nd through June 2nd, 2024. Best part is that you don’t have to use the pass on consecutive days. Visit any time through the end of the promotion (last date of entry is June 2nd).

The SoCal Resident deal offers tickets for one-park-per day, with or without Disney Genie+, and a Park Hopper ticket.

How the SoCal Spring Ticket Changes Crowds

Does the SoCal Spring ticket change the crowd levels? Yes, there’s definitely been a shift from years’ past, and for one reason.

The least expensive SoCal Resident Spring Ticket can only be used on weekdays. There is also a more costly SoCal Resident Ticket that’s valid on weekends.

Crowd levels as a result may be significantly higher Monday through Friday than on Saturdays and Sunday. That’s a twist on previous years when weekend crowds were higher.

Aim to visit earlier in the spring season to avoid the heavier spring break crowds. The weekdays and weekends at the end of May will likely be more crowded, as locals will be flooding into the parks to use the last of their promotional ticket.

DISCOUNT DISNEYLAND TICKETS – My travel partners at Get Away Today offer both discounted Disneyland tickets and Anaheim-area hotels to fit any budget! Many hotels include exclusive discounts like free parking, complimentary breakfast or even free nights, just for booking through Get Away Today.

Maximizing Time During Spring Break at Disneyland

As a guest, if you’re planning Disneyland spring break visits, consider booking your trip early in spring. The closer to Easter, the more crowded the parks get. These are a few additional tips when going to Disney during peak season:

Book Early

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure theme parks both require advance park reservations for entry. Purchase your ticket, then use the reservation system either online or through the app to reserve your vacation dates.

Schedule Your Theme Park Days

Plan a theme park strategy before your trip to roughly plot out your day. Include all details including rides, restaurant reservations, shows and character greetings.

Expect Crowds

A Disneyland crowd calendar is often unreliable. But one thing is for sure: When kids are on school breaks, the theme parks are busy!

Different school districts schedule spring break throughout the season, from early March to late April. Expect the spring break season to have long lines and extensive wait times.

Use these planning tips for when it’s expected to be crowded at Disneyland. Use of Disney Genie+, rope dropping and a multi-day pass will help make the most of time in the parks.

How to Pack for Spring Break at Disneyland

It can be tough to plan a wardrobe for spring weather at Disneyland! One day it’s 50 degrees and drizzling. The next afternoon, there’s beautiful weather at nearly 90 degrees and you’re sweating!

We receive these questions frequently in the Disneyland With Kids Facebook group:

  • Will it be warm enough to swim during spring break at Disneyland?
  • Is it going to rain?
  • Should I pack shorts or sweatshirts?

My advice as a Southern California native? Watch the 10-day forecast very carefully. Spring break does fall within the rainy season. That said, weather during the spring season is ever changeable and difficult to predict.

The following section includes links to rainy weather tips, best outfits to wear to Disneyland, and several printable packing checklists. Plan on packing layers, at the very least.

Morning Disneyland Rope Drop Routine

In order to beat the crowds during peak vacation seasons, families should maximize the first two hours at Disneyland. These are a few strategies to consider if you’re planning a vacation during spring break at Disneyland.

Have a ticket and reservation. Remember that all guests MUST have a valid park ticket and theme park reservation before visiting.

Have the Disneyland app uploaded onto your smart phone before your visit. Already have the app? Make sure it’s updated to the most current version.

Purchase a Disney ticket with Disney Genie+ built in. It’s one less step you’ll have to make after scanning through the gates. This is also an excellent way to lock in the Disney Genie+ pricing (which fluctuates to a higher rate during busy seasons).

Arrive early to allow for parking or walking, getting through the security check point and waiting in line to enter the park.

Stay at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels to take advantage of Early Entry benefits.

Choose hotels within walking distance. Book on a vacation package with tickets at a discount from Get Away Today. Check out one of the many Anaheim Good Neighbor Hotels, like the Courtyard Marriott or the Howard Johnson.

Skip the stand-by line and purchase individual Lightning Lanes for these attractions: Radiator Springs Racers in Disney California Adventure or Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland park.

Book your mobile orders in the morning. My family plans out all our meals to save time. We pre-order quick service breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks while waiting in line for our first attraction!

During spring at Disneyland, there are often the addition of certain characters to the meet ‘n greet line up. Most notably are Disney “rabbits” including Roger Rabbit, Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh and White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.

This line-up isn’t always a guarantee between each year, but this is a trend that usually happens in the parks each spring.
